SMART Pressure Redistribution System
Available for the complete ProAxis range the SMART Pressure Redistribution system provides dynamic pressure redistribution through programmed movement of the mattress platform. The angular changes in the ergonomically designed mattress platform, which mimics the human pivot points of the hips and knees, effectively redistributes pressure. The dropping hinge gently holds the patient in position, minimising sheer and friction and eliminating migration down the bed.
This both compliments and enhances the qualities of the static Visco elastic mattress, supplied with the bed, which provides low interface pressure and is suitable for patients at high risk of acquiring pressure ulcers and those with existing pressure area care needs. The waterproof cover is made from a 4 way stretch material which prevents "hammocking", yet is vapour permeable allowing the skin to breath.
This combination of static mattress and programmed movement of the mattress platform offers a simple alternative to current dynamic mattress systems and accommodates very high risk patients.
Dynamic pressure redistribution can be provided quickly by the carer simply by following clear instructions on the SMART control determining the extent of angular changes and the time frequency of such movements. Movement of the mattress platform is silent and very slow so as not to disturb the patient in anyway.
